tizzdizz:
Hi guys. Been lurking a few days and decided to start a thread.
Just picked up this 67 289 2 bbl c4. Body work is mostly done, couple holes in the floor pan which I'll fix later.
Trim is good, bumpers are fine, needs some polishing. Grille and tail lights need some paint and a spit shine, but everything is really straight.
I'm new to Cougars, but you can see the project this is replacing in the garage. That's my 73 mustang 6 cylinder 3 speed, which I drove in college. Sat in a field for 15 years and I was going to try and get it going, but it's too far gone for my time/funds.
I love the cougar so far. It's got an aftermarket stereo, 6x9 holes in the rear deck, and some rusty 14" wheels and dry rotted tires. Don't forget the loud loud loud flow masters that my 20-year-old self would have drooled over.
Runs but won't stay running, pretty sure the intake/carb gaskets are leaking, so that's first on the list. May have an overheating problem, and doesn't like to shift into second or third. Headlights also don't flip up.
But it's mine, and I want to drive it! Plan is to get it purring, one color (primer) and new steel wheels and tires. Loud exhaust needs to go.
Hope to have time this weekend to do some wrenching.
